  The Power of Agreement

The Power of Agreement

So many differences of opinion.

So many different ways of doing things (raising children etc.)

So many ideas, manners, customs, and traditions.

It is not at all hard to find someone to disagree with,

The question is "can you find someone to agree with?"

"Can you and fellow believers find something to agree on?"

  1. There is much more to agree on than there is to disagree on.

I don’t know why it is so easy for us (even as Christians) to be disagreeable.

Even if we don’t agree with something someone believes, says or does,

There is so much that we could stand in agreement on with that person,

And consequently see the work of God done,

Rather than consuming our time with disagreeing.

Divisions in the body are the direct work of the enemy.

When we give ourselves to that spirit of discord,

we are simply yielding to the spirit of the Devil.

  2. The peace that the body of Christ is to have depends totally upon agreement.

We are the army of the Most High God.

    We are to be militant.

    Amos 3:3

3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

If we are ever going to be the Church Triumphant,

we must first be the Church Militant.

An army will not be an army long if it does not possess unity.

When one man steps all men must step.

When one man fires all men must fire.

When one man advances all men must advance.

    We must understand the scripture,

"Can two walk together, except they be agreed."

You must agree on who the enemy is, what the enemy is about,

And that we are violently attacking his evil kingdom.

If we don’t agree, we cannot walk or march defender.

One man can not defend a country - he is no match for the adversary.

But the army standing abreast, marching forward like a wall,

will pass through any obstacle that comes their way.

    1 Cor 14:40

40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

God understands the importance of unity and order.

We must become ‘One’ if we are going to be the Army of God.

  3. Discord and disagreement will stop the hand of God and the moving of the Spirit.

    Matt 13:54-58

54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

    Matt 13:58

58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

    (NIV)

I would like to translate this as "because of their lack of agreement"

It was their own faith that made them whole.

The power of Jesus could not heal, change, deliver, or even save anyone

unless they first agree with him and believe on him.

Therefore when we fail to agree/believe in or with him,

We are binding the hand of God from moving in our midst.

On the same hand though, when we agree with believers and/or with God,

We are releasing the Hand of God to move.

  4. Agreeing together and standing in the unity that agreement brings,

will build an unpenetrateable wall against the adversary.

A chord of 3 strands is not easily broken.

    Matt 18:15-20

15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

  5. There are blessings that come with being in agreement.

    Acts 2:1-4

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

    Acts 2:46-47

46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

  6. There is power in agreement.

    Matt 5:23-25

    23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

There is a very good reason why Jesus commanded us to agree with our adversary

It is impossible to be at odds with someone who agrees with you.

But not only will the power of agreement bring peace (even with our adversary)

It will also move the immovable, do the impossible, change the unchangable

    And work the unworkable.

    Matt 18:19

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

The power of agreement is a resource we as the body of Christ,

Have yet to realize the full effect of.

  7. When we agree on earth, it releases the hand of God to move on our behalf.

I Jn 3:22-24

22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

(KJV)

Acts 12:1-7

1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

The power of God was reveled and manifested

simply by the Church standing in agreement.

There is an awesome power in agreement.

Being in one mind, one accord, in one place to make one sound to be heard by one God.

Phil 2:1-11

1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
